Marketing/First-party starter playbook

Shopify listing optimizer

Rewrite weak Shopify product titles and descriptions in your brand voice, and publish only approved changes.

// what it does
  1. 01Pick the products. Fetch the products in scope with their title, description, product type, vendor, tags, variants, and options. Skip archived products and any product tagged to be left alone. Take at most the configured number per run.
  2. 02Score the current copy. For each product, note what is weak: a vague or keyword-stuffed title, a description that is missing, very short, copied from the manufacturer, or that never says who the product is for.
  3. 03Draft the rewrite. Write a new title in the store's format and a new description that leads with what the product is and who it is for, then covers materials, dimensions, compatibility, and care using only facts present in the product data. Keep existing HTML structure simple: short paragraphs and a bulleted spec list.
  4. 04Show the change. For each product, prepare the current and proposed title and description side by side, with one line on why the change helps.
  5. 05[Approval gate] Review each product's proposed title and description before anything in Shopify changes.
  6. 06Publish what was approved. Update each approved product's title and description exactly as approved. Leave rejected products untouched.
  7. 07Summarize. Post to Slack how many products were reviewed, updated, and left alone, with links to the updated products.
// guardrails in the draft

Never invent a spec, material, size, certification, or claim. If a fact is not in the product data, leave it out.

Never change prices, variants, inventory, images, handles, or SEO URLs. Titles and descriptions only.

Make no Shopify changes before the approval gate clears.

Keep each product's meaning intact: a rewrite that changes what the product is, or who it is for, is wrong even if it reads better.
