Marketing/First-party starter playbook

Weekly competitor watch

Each week, check your competitors' pricing, product, and news pages and report only what changed, with sources.

// what it does
  1. 01Load last week. Find the previous report in Notion so you know what each page said last time.
  2. 02Read the watched pages. Use web_fetch on each configured page (at most 20 pages per run) and record pricing, plan names, limits, new features, announcements, and open roles by team.
  3. 03Look for news you were not pointed to. Run at most 5 web_search queries across all competitors for launches, funding, or partnerships from the last 7 days, and read any result before using it.
  4. 04Compare. For each competitor, list what is new or different since last week's report: a price or plan change, a shipped feature, an announcement, or a hiring shift. Ignore wording-only edits.
  5. 05Say why it matters. For each change, add one line on what it could mean for us, marked as interpretation.
  6. 06Publish internally. Create this week's Notion report with every change, its source link, and the date seen, then post the three most important changes to Slack with a link to the report.
// guardrails in the draft

Every change must cite the page where you read it. Never report a change you inferred from a search snippet alone.

Say "no change found" for a competitor rather than padding the report.

Read public pages only. Never log in, fill forms, or contact competitors.

Keep interpretation separate from fact, and never present a guess about a competitor's plans as news.

Make weekly competitor watch yours.

Request access and we'll start with a private draft. You keep control of the tools, permissions, tests, and publication decision.
